People write the strangest things on their Facebook pages. This includes posting about the terrible day you had a work and the abusive boss who curses and spits. But an open question remains about to what extent a company can fire or discipline an employee for something posted off-hours on a blog or a Facebook account.
We now know that the National Labor Relations Board is going to take up the issue and has already issued a preliminary ruling in support of employee privacy and workers’ rights. In a complaint filed by the NLRB against American Medical Response, Inc., the government has accused the ambulance company of violating the National Labor Relations Act by terminating an employee who posted negative comments about his boss on his Facebook page.
